As I get older, I get more wary of things that seem to happen when they don't appear to have a valid reason. Look, I just don't understand why this ARD client thing is, or should, be a part of the OS.

Why didn't Apple just send out the update so I'd be ready? But, I did have to go to every set and download the software to update/upgrade the Airport Utility for that particular set (power pc or intel). They just chugged along using my old Airport Extreme (domed with USB and antenna ports).

Until I purchased my new Airport Extreme with "n" channels, all my PB's, MBP, and Power Mac never got notified by Software Update that there was a new Airport Utility version 5.2.1.

So, why is the ARD client showing to be updated? If it is to "prepare" my system in the advent it is used in a managed network, then shouldn't it be as all other programs or applications are done and be physically downloaded off of the included software? Doesn't the "10" license for ARD have a disk? Shouldn't that disk be used to set up the 10 sets (or 9 if the main set is included in the 10 count). To me, this is like Software Update telling me I need the latest Final Cut Studio or DVD Pro update, even though I don't have the original application on my hard drive. I suppose then, that every MAC user is a "client." But if I'm not already on a "managed network" (ARD would have been used to set up my computer as a client for a network) then why would I need this update?
